Watching films in English is an easy thing to do thanks to DVDs. Find films that are subtitled in English if you can and then choose your favorite film. Select a movie that you have seen so many times that you have the dialogue in your native language committed to memory. This will make following the story much easier for you. Follow along reading the subtitles first then listen to the movie in English.
Have your paper and pen ready as you may want to jot down useful words or phrases that you wish to learn. English subtitles might be useful for that; although they might differ from what is actually being said.
It isn't easy concentrating on listening to a foreign language for a long period of time so watch a few episodes at a time and review the words and phrases you heard. It definitely is a helpful tool to have a dictionary to English from your native language.
